Corporate Social Investment

Playing a meaningful social role

In the late 1980s, South Africans were dubbed “The Rainbow People”. It is an appropriate description for a nation with different ethnic origins, cultures and 11 different languages. Operating within this diverse environment demands corporate social responsibility expressed by relevant and worthwhile interaction with the community.

Mutual & Federal has a well-developed Corporate Social Investment (CSI) programme. We focus our financial assistance on 26 established and recognised organisations that work towards improving social stability, quality of life and developing economic stability.

To ensure that these focused efforts are sustainable, we have created long-term relationships with the organisations we support. Donations are reviewed annually and budgets allocated according to perceived needs. The result has been continuous, measurable programmes that benefit thousands of disadvantaged South Africans, conservation, education and rescue institutions.

Primary areas supported are:

  • Education
  • Health and Welfare
  • Road Traffic Safety
  • Crime Prevention
  • Conservation & the Environment

Strict guidelines ensure that CSI initiatives remain focused and benefit as many people as the budget will allow. To ensure these objectives are met, each request is thoroughly assessed and investigated before financial assistance is granted.

A full list of current beneficiaries can be obtained from Wendy Gertse, Communications Consultant, at wgertse@mf.co.za, who should also be approached in writing or by e-mail regarding donation requests.

Requests in writing should be addressed to:
